Does HyperPulse use GPS?

No. HyperPulse contains zero GPS hardware. Route maps are planned around IMU dead-reckoning experiments, with no real-time location data ever broadcast. This is by design because GPS hardware can create rule-review and youth-privacy problems.

Why no GPS

Two reasons. First: rule review. GPS-equipped wearables can trigger restrictions in school competition. Second: youth safety. We never want a third party to know where a 14-year-old athlete is in real time. There is no 'find my athlete' feature. There is no leaderboard. A stranger cannot find your kid through HyperPulse.

How distance and route get tracked

IMU dead-reckoning. The inertial measurement unit tracks acceleration, rotation, and bearing so the app can reconstruct an approximate post-session path without broadcasting live location. Exact distance and route accuracy are still being validated on real hardware across sport-specific field and court conditions.

Best accuracy environments

Court sports under 50 meters are the first validation target. Long-distance outdoor sports such as cross country and full-field soccer are handled more conservatively, with effort/load context prioritized over exact live location.
