What is the BLE range of HyperPulse?

Approximately 30 meters of line-of-sight Bluetooth Low Energy range between the patch and the coach's iPad or phone. This covers most indoor courts (basketball, volleyball, wrestling) and the technical/coaching area for outdoor sports (soccer sideline, football sideline, baseball dugout).

30-meter line-of-sight

BLE 5.0 at +4 dBm transmit power. Range degrades through walls, athletic pads (slight loss), and water (significant loss — see Swimming entry).

Where 30m is enough

Basketball court (94 ft = 28.6 m), volleyball court (18 m), wrestling mat (12 m), indoor soccer field (40-50 m — coach must stay close to sideline), tennis court (24 m baseline-to-baseline).

Where 30m struggles

Full-size outdoor soccer pitch (105 m × 68 m — coach needs to be within ~30 m of the athlete). Full football field (100 yards = 91 m — same). Cross country (we can't track mid-race — only pre/post and at coach checkpoints).

Why we don't push range further

Higher TX power = higher EMF exposure + faster battery drain + harder NFHS compliance argument. We optimized for the 'coach on the sideline' use case, not 'coach in the bleachers'.
